The Importance of Slaughtering Qurbani
The act of Qurbani is a significant form of worship in Islam, symbolizing sacrifice and the desire to draw closer to Allah. Qurbani also encourages cooperation, solidarity, and sharing within the community. Whether performed during Eid or at other times, Qurbani helps foster societal solidarity by being distributed to the needy, orphans, and especially those pursuing knowledge for the sake of Allah.

What is Shifa Qurbani?
Shifa Qurbani, a type of Qurbani, is an offering made to seek health, peace, and healing from Allah.
Shifa Qurbani is typically performed during times of illness or difficulty as an expression of reliance and submission to Allah.
Through this act, the person seeks healing by invoking Allah’s name, specifically His name of "Shafii" (The Healer).
The Prophet (PBUH) encouraged seeking medical treatment and seeking Allah's help in curing illnesses. Shifa Qurbani, therefore, is seen as an act of seeking healing through faith in Allah's mercy.
Our Prophet (PBUH) recommended slaughtering a Qurbani as one of the most effective means to seek healing during times of illness.
How to Intend for the Shifa Qurbani?
The intention (niyyah) behind performing the Shifa Qurbani is crucial. Turning to Allah with a sincere intention and heart creates the spirit of reliance that defines this act of worship.
To intend for the Shifa Qurbani, the following phrases can be used:
“I am slaughtering this Qurbani seeking healing for (patient's name) from (disease name), asking Allah’s pleasure and intercession.”
“I am slaughtering this Qurbani, seeking healing for (patient’s name) through the mercy of my Lord, invoking His name 'Shafii' (The Healer).”
“As a sign of health and wellness, I am slaughtering this Qurbani for (patient's name), hoping it will be a means for their healing.” This intention, accompanied by the act of slaughtering the Qurbani, is a way of seeking not only physical healing but also spiritual peace. Trust in Allah’s mercy and compassion strengthens the person and helps them endure challenges with resilience.

We called to order an urgent Shifa Qurbani, and it was slaughtered and the video sent to us before my father went into surgery. May Allah bless them.

We registered for the day of my son's surgery. The Shifa Qurbani was slaughtered before the surgery, and I showed the video to my son before he went in. May Allah bless them.
