What is the Meaning of Tawakkul? In our religion, tawakkul means to leave the result of a job to Allah after preparing all the necessary means for it to happen. Tawakkul, which can also be explained as ‘absolute trust’ or ‘taking refuge in Allah’, enables a Muslim to find peace and tranquility in his daily life. According to Islam, a Muslim waits for the results from Allah after he/she has willed to perform a task and exerted his/her strength in that direction. This submission and trust brings peace to the heart and salvation to the conscience.
The Prophet (SAW) said to a Bedouin, “Tie the camel's rope together with your trust in Allah Almighty!” and explained that tawakkul does not depend on laziness, but on active endeavour. In other words, tawakkul signifies trust in Allah at the end of a process in which all precautions are taken. This warning of our Prophet teaches Muslims that adhering to the cause precedes tawakkul and that they should embrace their work as they should.
The Most beautiful of Tawakkul One of the best examples of tawakkul is agriculture. The farmer finds a fertile soil, cultivates it, sows the seed and waits for Allah's mercy after taking the necessary precautions. In this process, it is understood that sticking to the causes is a requirement of tawakkul. The confidence and tranquillity of the farmer, who waits for the seed he has planted in the soil to sprout, is a complete reflection of tawakkul.
Umar (RA) asked a group of people sitting around: “Who are you?” They replied: “We are resigned to the will of Allah and have placed our trust (made Tawakkul) in Him.” These people refused to bother with trying to earn a living using Tawakkul as an excuse. Umar (RA) hit them and told them not to twist the concept of Tawakkul. He said, “You lie! Such a person is resigned to the will of Allah who sows the seed and then places his trust in Him. It is not Tawakkul to sit with idle hands. Gold and silver do not descend from the sky.”
Tawakkul with Qurban Sacrificing a qurban is also a very good example of tawakkul. When our child is born, when we buy a car or when we get sick, we take all the necessary precautions financially. When our child is born, the necessary examinations are carried out, attention is paid to its nutrition, and it is constantly cleaned. Or when we buy a vehicle, we take regular maintenance, put fuel in it and use it in accordance with the rules. Again, when we get sick, we go to the doctor and do the necessary examinations and medicines. After all these, we sacrifice a sacrifice by trusting in Allah (swt), the owner of all property and power. We pray to Allah Almighty on the occasion of the sacrifice to make the things that are not in our hands and that we cannot afford good and beautiful for us, and we reinforce our submission and tawakkul. Allah Almighty also grants us healing, a blessed and fruitful life for our children, and salvation for our property from His infinite treasury.
A Peaceful Life with Tawakkul Tawakkul has an important place not only in worship but also in daily life. A person with tawakkul takes the necessary precautions while doing his/her work, makes all his/her efforts and leaves the result to Allah. This attitude reduces the stress of the person, provides a relief in his heart and reinforces his inner peace. Knowing that every outcome is from Allah, distracts the person from worries and makes him more satisfied and happy. When a person lives in tawakkul, he is not worried about the outcome of his affairs and is free from anxiety about the results. This strengthens the mental health of the individual and makes them more peaceful individuals in society. Tawakkul gives people the strength to accept the negativities they experience and increases patience. In conclusion, tawakkul is a belief and lifestyle that calms the soul of a Muslim individual and adds meaning to his/her life. A person should exert all his/her strength in doing his/her work and leave the result to Allah. This trust and submission lightens one's spirit and makes one stronger in social life. Tawakkul is a refuge that brings man closer to Allah and gives him peace.
We wish that we can be among those who work and earn, as a beloved servant of Allah, who accomplish everything with tawakkul and make tawakkul a part of their lives...
